Cape Girardeau Public Library is closing in response to COVID-19
Cape Girardeau Public Library has made the difficult decision to close at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17th (today) through at least Sunday, April 5th, 2020. This decision was made in response to COVID-19 based on recommendations at the federal, state, and local levels. We have provided a great list of reliable resources about COVID-19 on our website. |
We know that libraries serve as a hub for learning, an outlet for discovery of fantastic tales, and a vital lifeline for those in need of a welcoming space. As a public library we also have an obligation to consider the health and safety of our patrons and our staff. Closing is the only way to ensure we meet that obligation. Please know that we have extended all dues dates through April 13th. While our building will be closed, we encourage everyone to utilize their library card for our digital materials. CGPL has a large digital collection to which your library card gives you access. We look forward to reopening the Library as soon as it is safe to do so. Please know that we will be working to develop workarounds to provide you with library materials and resources should this closure needs to be extended. We will communicate with you via our website and social media outlets as things change. |
