City of Jackson Additional Response Information
Additional COVID-19 Response
The City of Jackson is responding to COVID-19 recommendations by taking the following additional actions to ensure the health of our community and staff. Effective immediately, policy changes will be made at the Jackson Civic Center.
The Jackson Civic Center will be closing to the public at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17 and will remain closed through Friday, April 3. The Parks & Recreation staff will continue to be on site from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to answer calls, respond to email messages, and conduct business.
Individuals or groups that have events reserved at the Civic Center during this period will be notified and given the option to reschedule or cancel and receive a refund of any money already paid. Park pavilion reservations and Civic Center reservations may be made over the phone at 204-8848 or by e-mail at civiccenter@jacksonmo.org. These are inconveniences, and we apologize. However, these are unforeseen circumstances.
All baseball, softball, and soccer league practice sessions and games are suspended until further notice. The leagues will reevaluate their seasons in April. However, all outdoor city parks and playgrounds remain open for unorganized recreation.
In addition, we will be closely monitoring the weather in anticipation of any severe weather forecast over the next two weeks. In the event any future tornado watches or warnings are issued for our area, the Civic Center’s tornado safe room will be open and available for individuals seeking shelter.
We will continue to monitor the developments and safety recommendations related to COVID-19 and provide updates. All updates will be posted on www.jacksonmo.org and our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/jacksonmo.
The City of Jackson’s responsibility is to help keep our residents safe and provide vital services. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation.
